The application deadline for round two was 5/31/26 at 5pm. The portal is now closed.
Reminders:
1. If your project’s start date is within this round but your completion date is during the next round, please apply during the next round. The opening date for the next round will be September 2026.
2. Applications submitted for dates outside the current round will be denied, except for activities starting in the current round and ending in the next. Those applications should be submitted in the round in which they end or are completed. See rule number four.
3. The maximum amount allowed each award period (7/2/XX - 7/1/XX) is $2,000, regardless of whether you submit one or two applications.
4. Each applicant may apply for up to two activities during a grant year (July 2nd - July 1st).
5. Each activity (semester, conference, research project, etc…) must be submitted on a separate application. You may not list two conferences on one application, even if they occur at the same time: no exceptions.
6. Applications with more than one activity will have the second activity denied. The committee will no longer email applicants to correct this issue.
7. All applications must be fully completed, or they will be denied. The committee will no longer email applicants to correct incomplete submissions.
8. All applications must be typed; handwritten applications will not be accepted.
9. You must use the correct form. It is available for download here (IDA Application Form)
10. All applications must be submitted via the portal. Physical applications will not be reviewed and will be disposed of in accordance with Stony Brook Policy EC0025 - Disposal of Protected Information.
Failure to abide by the guidelines above may result in your application being denied.

The UUP Individual Development Award (IDA) program is intended to assist eligible UUP-represented employees (full and part-time) in developing their full professional potential and in preparing for advancement.
The funding is available to enhance teaching and research capabilities and improve professional knowledge and skills. Funding may not be awarded to purchase equipment or supplies. The maximum possible award per contract year is $2,000. Before completing the application and online form, read the program guidelines, which dictate how the program is implemented. Failure to complete an application properly will result in its denial.
Please note: Reimbursement for the purchase of equipment, books, software, professional dues, licensing costs, certification, or examination fees for licenses or certifications is NOT permitted.
